 Born in London 1982, Jarvis Earnshaw spent most of his childhood in Japan, releasing his debut album from Slam Records at the age of 15; he graduated Bunka Gakuin Art School in Tokyo, then studied sitar in India and is a graduate of Pratt Institute in New York. His musical career as well as his Art career has been recognized worldwide, having solo exhibitions, residencies and performances throughout the world, from Fuji Rock Festival to The Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center New York.  

 His work is often described as a cinematic experience utilizing guitar, sitar, modified audio cassette tape loops. provoking memories of past and beyond; at times violently explosive yet soothing and irresistible.

 Currently based in Yokohama Japan, he has been engaged in numerous projects with an emphasis on collaborations. Notable explorations include: Trevor Dunn (Mr.Bungle, Fantômas, Melvins), Merzbow, Lori Goldston (Nirvana, Earth), Chris Corsano (Björk), Kool Keith (Ultra Magnetic MCs, Dr.Octagon), Luke Stewart (Irreversible Entanglements), New-Wave violinist Walter Steding, beatnik poet Anne Waldman, Akira Sakata, artist Kenny Scharf, Daniel Carter, Hirotomo Hasegawa (Aburadako), Amazing Amy the contortionist, Ryan Sawyer (At the Drive-In), Jaimie Branch, Seiichi Yamamoto (Boredoms, PARA), Shinji Masuko (DMBQ), Tamio Shiraishi (Fushitsusha), Fujio Yamaguchi (Les Rallizes Dénudés, Mura Hachibu), Jack Endino (SkinYard), Martin Bisi, Steve Albini, has been featured on recordings by DJ Quietstorm, Yoshitake EXPE and has been commissioned by the National Audubon Society to create a soundtrack for the short film "Shorebirds Flock to Yellow Sea". For over a decade he contributed as musical director for Rumi Missabu of the legendary 1970's psychedelia troupe The Cockettes, and also played bass in the punk band QUESTION w/ singer Saira Huff (Bastard Noise, Detestation). Since 2016 he has held a monthly residency at Flowers For All Occasions Gallery in Brooklyn NY called SYRINX, but due to the covid-19 pandemic has evolved into a monthly podcast called SYRINX-RADIO and also a series of limited edition collaborative fundraiser cassette tape releases called SYRINX-CASSETTE.

Featuring: Daniel Carter (Yoko Ono, Jaco Pastorius) sax/flute, Devin Brahja Waldman (GY!BE, Thurston Moore) sax, Sean McCaul (Philip Glass Ensemble) xylophone & Niko Wood (Drums).

*TRAVISANO Trio: Chris Corsano (Drums), Trevor Dunn (contrabass), JE (sitar, voice & tapeloops)

*A quartet with Luke Stewart {Irreversible Entanglements, Archie Shepp} on contrabass, Ryan Sawyer {Zeena Perkins, At the Drive-In} on Drums & Devin Brahja Waldman {Thurston Moore, GY!BE} on saxophone 1st album available through No Quarter Records

 His photographs have been featured as a 7page spread in Asahi Camera Magazine, has had a solo exhibition at the New York Public Library Thompkin Sq. branch and his self published zines: “Nowhere Now Here vol.0” and “Nowhere Now Here vol.9” have been added to the New York Public Library permanent collection at Lincoln Center in 2016. He is also the founder of Benign Publications, publishing poetry books of emerging poets including: Gabe Raines “MNYXM a book of sound poetry” & “Your Waterdrop, Your Mind” by Colin Griffin. As a designer he has been commissioned by clothing companies such as BEAMS International and DoARaT for designs and continuously strives to broaden his horizon as an artist.

アーンショー　ジャービス

昭和５７年生、幼少期をイギリスと日本で過ごし、若干１５歳で36.5cBulletのヴォーカリストとして日本のパンクレーベル、スラムレコードからデビューを果たす。美術学校御茶ノ水文化学院を卒業後、ソロ活動やDragon Ashのギターを勤めた後インドでシタールの勉強を経て、２００７年にはニューヨークの PRATT Instituteから栄誉賞を受賞している。彼の音楽と写真は世界的に認められ、Fuji Rock Festival '0３から２０１６年にはニューヨークの由緒あるニューヨーク、リンカーンセンターでライブを行い、世界各国でレジデンシーやパフォーマンスを展開している。

シタール、ギターを操り、オーディオカセットテープを改造した手作りループを活用しながら、彼の多彩で暖かな声はシネマティックな体験だと表されることが多い。時には暴力的なぐらいの衝撃と共に感じられるノスタルジアと緊張感に思い起こされる空間。

ソロ活動の他に積極的に様々な分野のアーティストとコラボレーションを心掛けている。トレヴァー ダン（Mr.Bungle, Fantômas, Melvins)、Merzbow、ウォルター ステディングや画家のケニーシャーフ、クール キース (Ultra Magnetic MCs, Dr.Octagon)、ビートニック詩人アン ウォルドマン、ローリー ゴールドストン(Nirvana)、坂田明、長谷川裕倫 (あぶらだこ)、画家の松岡亮、曲芸師のアメイジングエイミー、THA BLUE HERB、山口富士夫(村八分, 裸のラリーズ)、山本精一 (BOREDOMS)、Masuko Shinji (DMBQ)、クリス コルサーノ（Björk) 、ライヤン ソイヤー（At the Drive-In）、白石民生（不失者)、ルーク スチュアート(Irreversible Entanglements)、ジェイミー ブランチ等とのライブコラボレーションを行い、Dj Quietstorm、YoshitakeEXPEのアルバム参加、BCスタジオの伝説的プロデューサー マーチンビーシーやシアトルグランジ先駆者プロデューサージャック エンディーノ(Skin Yard)、スティーブ アルビニとのコラボ、ナショナルオードバンソサエティーの短編映画　”Shorebirds Flock to the Yellow Sea”のサウンドトラック提供や、セイラ ハフ（BastardNoise / Detestation)率いるパンクバンド QUESTIONでベースを担当 、ジョンレノンをも魅了した歴史的７０年代サイケデリック劇団ザコケッツのルミミサブの音楽プロデュースも手掛けている。

*Nirvanaの第5のメンバーとして知られるローリー ゴールドストン(チェロ)とエヴァン ストラウス（コントラバス)、シェリダン ライリー(Alvvays) ドラムでJELGES Hextet

*ライアン ソイヤー(At the Drive-In) ドラム、ルーク スチュアート(Irreversible Entanglements)、ブラフジャ(GY!BE) サックスとカルテットでNo Quarter Recordsからアルバムを出し、ピッチフォークから２０２１年度ベストジャズ／エキスペイメンタル賞を受賞している。

音楽のみならず、朝日新聞に発行されている写真雑誌アサヒカメラのグラビアに７ページ多重露光写真が連載されたり、２０１３年度夏ニューヨーク公共図書館トンプキンスクエアーでの個展、Beams InternationalやDoARaTへのデザイン提供、写真集シリーズから"Nowhere Now Here vol.0 "と"Nowhere Now Here vol.9 " と二冊がニューヨーク中央図書館永久コレクションに２０１６年に保存され、研ぎ澄まれて行く彼の表現力は常に進化を遂げながら世界を魅了し続けている。
